In order to understand the Free Coconut as you know it today, we'll have to take a little trip down memory lane...

When our powerhouse owner, Stephanie Sade, came up with the Free Coconut, she was at her lowest point. She was struggling with one of her previous businesses, grappling with the betrayal that came from a former employee who she trusted, and the negative impact that our government was having on her as a black woman, a mother of black daughters and sons, and a small business owner.

As she sat there considering her values and what she deemed as truly important to not only herself, but to girls and women everywhere, her mind became rushed with new ideas!

She would move her family to a tropical country, a place that felt more like home. Somewhere her and her children could be young, wild, and free. Being that she had been working and mothering since she was 16, this move would give her the opportunity to do something she had never done: relax.

But alas, she is and will always be one of the hardest workers I know and has an insatiable desire to make change. She was growing and this business would need to evolve with her.

And just like that, Free Coconut was born!

A lifestyle brand specializing in travel and vacation wear to celebrate and empower women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities and instilling them with the courage to live life authentically, freely, and wildly! That's why I always say: wear the outfit, pack the suitcase, and stamp the passport.

BE A FREE COCONUT!

The Free Coconut and all that comes with it from our all female staff, to our carefully curated products, and me over here at The Chatty Coconut Blog is a direct reflection of who Stephanie is and what she thinks is important in this life, especially as a woman.

The Free Coconut prioritizes self-worth, freedom, and happiness whatever your definition of it may be. That's why we'll always provide you with outfits to make you feel amazing, travel stories that range from the magical to the disastrous, and most importantly a safe haven for women to be exactly who they are.

For me, happiness is that moment when the plane takes off. The butterflies you feel in your stomach, your favorite song playing in your earbuds, and the excitement that comes with the unknown of what this next adventure has in store.

I will write for Stephanie for as long as she'll have me, and that's a promise. Never have I felt so represented and seen by not only a business, but a workplace. I know that might sound biased, so allow our travel and beach ware ready products, creatively fresh content, and our commitment to all of you ladies prove it!

From our comfy airport sweat sets, to our reusable travel bags and totes, and let's not forget our waterproof jewelry for travel, we will be a staple in your suitcase!
