Hello, my Travel Girl Gang! For today's Chatty Coconut Blog, the official blog of the Free Coconut brand, I want to discuss an often overlooked but absolutely essential part of your day-to-day adventures: your travel bag!

The key to living the Free Coconut lifestyle and embracing that sun-soaked, island-inspired fashion vibe is staying young, wild, and free! However, if you have a Type-A personality like me, the only way to truly harness all of that coastal calmness is by being prepared and having all of the vacation-ready essentials to stay comfortable.

So, kick back, relax, and use this post from the Free Coconut blog as your official vacation packing checklist, because I've got you covered with all of the bits and bobs you weren’t thinking of.

First off, you need to decide what sort of travel bag is the right one for you. Is it one of our official Free Coconut tote bags (aka the ultimate vacation carry-all bags)? Or perhaps you want to sport a trendy belt bag? During our duo trip to Bar Harbor, Maine over the summer, my little sister Maya was on travel bag duty.

While hiking Acadia National Park, she kept our belongings stored and safe, yet wasn’t weighed down by unnecessary items.

From beach totes for women to tropical market bags, the type of bag you carry sets the tone for your whole day. It’s part of your vacation outfit inspiration just as much as your airport outfit ideas or tropical loungewear.

Your New Go-To Checklist For Your Travel Bag Essentials!

Identification: I know you’ve heard the horror stories about misplaced passports and lost IDs! The best way to ensure you don’t end up as another travel statistic? Keep your identification on you at all times! You’ll need it for customs and border control anyway, and as soon as you land, you’ll most definitely want to get a strong tropical beverage at the local beach bar. Be ready for anything and everything—it’s a must-have on any packing list.

Portable Charger: A charged phone is essential, especially for a solo female traveler. The Free Coconut vacation store team wants you to put your own personal safety first, and those Instagram-worthy cute travel outfit ideas you just took second. Portable chargers aren’t big and clunky anymore; they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors that work for any travel-friendly totes. With a charged phone, you can do the impromptu photoshoot, call a ride when your beach town fashion sandals start to hurt, and stay connected in case of emergency. Stay young, wild, free, and safe!!!

Hand Sanitizer: With all the bars, restaurants, and tourist stops, germs are everywhere. Stay healthy by keeping hand sanitizer in your bag. To make it fun, match the scent to your destination! This little swap counts as part of your eco-friendly travel toiletries collection and your vacation-ready beauty essentials.

Tide Pen: A stained outfit is a recipe for ruining your vacation-ready wardrobe! The last thing you want is to see your stylish beachwear for women or resort wear must-haves ruined with a splash of red wine or a smear of spaghetti sauce. Keep a tide pen on you and I promise you (and your outfit) will thank me later!

Claw Clips & Hair Ties: Personally, I never go anywhere without a claw clip handy! They're the ultimate lightweight travel accessory for women One of my #1 pet peeves is sweat ruining my hair and makeup, and throwing off my look overall. One of the most Nirvana feelings is that ocean breeze grazing your neck, while your hair remains up and in-tact. Also, be a girl's girl and throw a couple hair ties in your travel bag just in case! They're the ultimate coastal getaway essential. I’ve been that desperate girl, and somebody always needs one, so follow the golden rule and be there for your gang the way you’d want them to be there for you.

Band-Aids: Band-Aids are one of the most underrated yet versatile travel essentials for women! A cut or broken nail? Absolutely, that’s obvious. But, did you know they can also double as pasties? If you forget to throw some in your suitcase for that skin tight dress or busty top, use band-aids to cover up so that you can feel comfortable and cute. And of course, they’ll be your foot's best friend when those heels, wedges, or sandals totally start irritating you. They can be the difference between lasting 5 more minutes, or 5 more hours.

Chapstick: I am an Aquaphor girl through and through, and always stay strapped with a full tube for me and my friends. Chapped lips are never fun, and with all of the laughing, talking, eating, and drinking you’ll be doing they are a definite possibility. Chapstick is the definition of minimalist travel skincare and should be a permanent addition to your tropical travel beauty routine.

Portable Fan: The beach is beautiful, but we all know how hot it gets out there laying on the sand or enjoying an oceanside lunch. The portable fan is totally overlooked and under-utilized. When I am at a Florida State Football game trying my best to cheer as loud as I can for the ‘Noles, but the beating sun is slowly making me fade, never am I more jealous than of the girl with the portable fan. It belongs on every warm weather vacation packing list!

Mini Hairbrush: The motto of course will forever and always be beach hair don’t care, but on the off chance you lost track of time splashing around in the crystal blue water and you’re totally running late for that dinner reservation, you’ll want to reach into your travel bag and pull out that mini hairbrush you packed. Plus, if it comes time to take down your luscious mane from that claw clip or hair tie I mentioned earlier, you’ll have no problem returning your look to its natural state.

Gum & Breath Mints: Last, but certainly not least, is gum and breath mints! Mask the scent of that strong tequila you took a shot of, or the rich dinner you just devoured after a long day by popping in a piece of gum. Don’t you want to be prepared to share a kiss with that person you were eying from across the beach bar dance floor?😉

As an avid female traveler, these are the Top Ten items my travel bag CANNOT live without! I promise ladies, you won’t regret packing them in yours either. Comment below with some different essentials I may have missed that I need to add to my list! As always…

Happy Traveling!
